Hey, I’m Valerie.

I have 17 years of design expertise across both agency and in-house roles for major tech brands, including Twitter, Square, Amazon, Samsung, Verizon, Walmart Connect, and LG — with consistently proven project success from concept to delivery.

Specializing in identity systems, digital illustration, and animation. I work to imbue the highest quality and attention to detail in all my work. I am an expert in Adobe Creative Cloud and Figma and well-versed in tools like Procreate. I have a background in printmaking and photography and a degree in Multimedia Design from the University of Oregon.

Prior to working in tech, I spent years as a full-service designer for various non-profit and socially conscious for-profit organizations and community-driven brands — those whose passions were aligned with my own, to meaningfully impact the human experience through the power of connection and storytelling.

Currently, I am Head of Creative at Equivalent, a SaaS development company specializing in Smart SVG technology. I am also Design Manager on the Starship Studio team at Optum leading B2B design and managing the B2B design team.

In my free time, I am an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoys exploring the western United States in my tiny car. I am a joyful member of the SF LGBTQ+ community.
